I have finally figured out what is wrong.

ok fine I think alot of people here know what it is already, but you know, most people are blind to their own faults.

aiyah sianz. excuse my engrish lah k, now v late i v tired v sian v deaded can.

so whats wrong is not the lack of concentration... or me talking too much... or super fun games in the house... (even though its a slight combination of all these).

its because of:

10mins later. ok never mind another 5mins. ahhh 10mins more. ......... you get the drift.

6 times of 10 minutes is an hour leh!

i say 6 times, means 1 hour over already!

omgomgomgomg.

12 times = 2 hours, 18 times = 3 hours!

(oh btw people, after finals should i go to the bahamas-resort-thingy or go dc or stay in pitts and play rockband everyday. don't feel like going london already cos the planeticket alone is like 700+ usd!! and should i get my parents to come for grad, cos if i do, i can afford both their airtickets and hotel and travelling costs phwoaaaar i'm so filial. actually cos airticket don't really have to pay, use points only haha gotcha. but i dont feel like the need to go for grad...)

I just had this discussion a couple of hours ago. Seriously, how do people dress up for school! They have amazing waking powers man. I've been wanting to dress it up so as to parade around in my pretty pretty new flats (+ before it gets too cold). But every morning all I can manage is to roll out of bed, throw on some ugly shit and crawl out the door.

The stress is arriving early this semester =(
Its been a psycho past 2 weeks, what with 4 midterms and a boston trip sandwiched inbetween. Psycho enough to make me fall sick *blows nose* By wednesday I couldn't distinguish between studying and sleeping, everything was so hazy! Right now, its still not much better cos I chose to go grove city and splurge instead of resting at home. Also explains why my history outline is twice overdue and has to be completed tonight.

But but but! Its been a good day. =)
Dinner at Sakura (the US one) - habachi beef, good sushi, greentea mochi, chocolate icecream cake (yes icecream and sick people shouldnt mix but birthdays are exceptions ^.^)

oh dear... late nights are starting a little early this semester. i'm so worried about just surviving this sem - not even talking about As or 4.0 or what not. that and the stress of returning to singapore (for good) in a year's time, starting work earlier than almost everyone in the batch, etc.

don't waaaaant.

plus i'm hungry! kk says cannot microwave the leftover fries i have from maximumpizza. now how? there's not even chips to munch on cos they were selling for $3 a bag at geagle! so pricey!

the stats homework due tomorrow says: describe the distributions.
ask about the mean, median, variance, blah just don't ask me to describe! hate hate hate. no matter what im still a math major who only wants to work with numbers and symbols. no descriptions.

grad school how? work how? europe-travelling plans how? THANKSGIVING BREAK how??
fyi, thanksgiving break starts on the 26th, which is one week before the final week of school. it is also two weeks before finals.
anyways, i'll be heading down to boston oct 3rd. seafood time!

oh and one more thing. bought a dress from gapKIDS and a belt from rue21 - total $15. so it was really weird when i wore it on saturday and people asked where i was going/why so dressed-up. its a KIDS dress leh. and no, not the princess kind thankyouverymuch.

I've been so lazy with this blog, cos everytime I'm excited about something and wanna write it down, I end up feeling like I should write about all the exciting stuff that happened before this and it becomes too overwhelming. So there's disney (and all the trips before that), the conference,... haha I give up.

Somehow what surprised me wasn't so much your response, but my own. Not angry. Not irritated. Just... curious? And pretty amazed at how such a simple question elicited your shit.

I thought about it while walking up the stairs, while flazing on the couch, while the tirade of manchesterunited and their fuckedup performance was going on. Oh wells. I don't understand but I see your efforts at trying to hide it. For my own good. Which is when I can't figure out what I want. Sometimes sometimes I feel like yelling be honest with me damnit, hiding things isn't being honest. But yet I like fluffy white lies - lies that tell me my eyebags are babysized, my hair is not static-fied or messy, I'm not stupid at all and can conquer the whole world. If only this mechanism has an autodetection switch, toggling between accommodation and brutal honesty.

Wanted to write something along the lines of whether people despair when they don't see a future thats better than the present. But I will leave that to my essay. The essay that is still currently wordless. The essay where I will, with great great difficulty, explain why the people of Kievan Rus eventually turned to the religion so commonplace in Russia today. Of pagan tradition versus the orthodox church. Of living for the moment versus extreme optimism.
Reminds me of those typical (almost boring) school mottos... that essentially mean for a better tomorrow.
Churning out words is just not my thing, especially long essays that I have no idea what to blabber about.

The essay is still wordless because all this while I've been shaking as if I've got withdrawal symptoms of some sort and can't quite figure if its due to 1. the painfully cold weather 2. caffeine in coffee 3. the fact that I could be sick and not know it.

While making two transformers fight each other yesterday,
I concluded that the models were made very suitable for pittsburgh!
1. The wheels mounted on the shoulders are not there just to obstruct the robo's view. They block out the cold biting wind! how can they battle when their ears are painful and their noses are on the verge of falling off, right?
2. The overhead shelter-cover thingys are so useful in preventing sunburn! When its cold and sunny, you almost never feel the sun. And in the many many hours of battling other robos, I'm sure there's no time to pause and apply aloevera gel.

Minus the horrendous flight schedule, spring semester is starting off very well! I'm so excited now! *bouncebounce in chair in uber quiet cluster*
First up, I woke up at 6am - jetlaggggggg. But thats a good thing cos I made it to 830 class haha how rare how rare. Also, 830 class wasn't too bad cos the (brit) prof seems to know his stuff well and he focuses on current events yAy.
Plus, it's snowing! luv it ^^ Pretty outside and it doesn't feel as cold as yesterday's rain.
And the last thing would be the history paper I just collected. Marks were deducted for incorrect endnotes format (haha ok pathetic) and -get this- 'overuse of passive tense'. Besides that everything else was gOOd and I have a chance to do more with it =)

Hungry now. I just browsed through too many pictures of good food and its making me hungryyyyy but lunch is at 130 haha I feel like getting hot chocolate now hmmmmm.

Oh yah. Customs at Chicago airport was ^@#%@$#%!! The customs officer looked at my I-20 and,
"Math major?" looked at me suspiciously "What courses are you taking this semester?"

waiting for OR recitation to start. quite amused really, this area is where the profs and grad students walk past... so there's alot of academic talk, discussions about how they need security clearance to look at some proofs (so ironic. they were talking about the proofs in front of me haha i can steal their ideas! right. don't even understand a single thing so sad)
they were waiting for a certain 'andy' too. which turned out to be the matrix prof from last sem! yikes.

so anyways.
entered a class where i was the only math major. and surprisingly, what degree does the prof have? mathematical psychology. who knows what that means.

so... i've managed to achieve quite abit of stuff within one day of the new year hehe... includes:

checking out vivocity. its quite big. but whats with all the hypeeeee i don't understand. only thing... sales!! so cheap when you realise that everything's in sing currency. but lotsa self-control this year!

or maybe not. spent some on foooood. nice foods, jap shin-something at vivocity and crystal jade. stop trying to drag me to carl's junior NO BURGERS. no burgers in singapore please. they should ban fastfood restaurants. haha i'm feeling deservedly rich now =p shall not be so qianbian and say why so.

plus. i exercised! kind of lah. walked from vivocity all the way up mount faber, should be considered exercise right right right? very far leh =)

course registration at 7am. meeting zq at 6am so i wouldn't register alone and freak out if anything goes wrong. which is why i'm not sleeping now. there's not much time left. was planning on snoozing in the reading room. but was convinced to go up to my room to snooze. but was convinced right outside my door to not sleep at all. so here i am, in the corridor, with 4 other zoned out psychos. i don't even know 3 of them.

after a full day of not-exactly-wasting-time-but-still-nothing-done. i know this will be boring but im happy so who cares man.
woke up late. talked on the phone for really long yay. had breakfast in the comfort of my room - yummy berry cereal with yummy strawberry milk yay. eyeballed the damn cute doggy picture for damn long while deciding whether to stick it up on the wall yay. tried to do programming lab unsuccessfully. vacuumed the carpet its clean now! yay. did my piling (filing without files cos i havent even bought aft 2months here) for the first time yay.
so overall YAY!
got to stop this, its sounding too bimbotic.

which reminds me, there's a super bimbo in my prog class but she's sooo funny. yeah shes far from stupid, but the stuff she does...

okayy, time for an update...

its like 130am here but thinking about things doesn't really help me to sleep. going back to pittsburgh tomorrow so i'll have plenty of time to sleep on the car probably. although i'll be killed for that. or fined. or whatever.

-sleeping with wet hair. actually thats the reason why i'm not asleep yet. i don't go back to dorm/ shower til its quite late. and by the time i'm done i want to sleep but cant -.-

-pmsing [which happens back at home or not really home but yes i'm pmsing now too so thats why i'm not asleep]

-gross accent. i hate their caaan't and their wad(t)er and their eeeither. yuck.

-the freakin shower cubicle. it looked so nice and clean at first, but now i realise how tiny it is and how i have no space to hang clothes. next up: buy bathrobe.

-the way i feel like how a prc felt in jc.

-the laundry. i don't really hate it, its easypeasy. just scared that one day i'll press some wrong button and all my clothes die in the machine.

-the lack of rice. WHERES MY RICE I NEED CARBOOOOO.

-the soon to be cold weather. baaaad going on worse.

-that somehow, i become so unsure of the 2+3+1+5 of the uncertainty of whats gonna happen i guess.

-that making me feel special when its in fact the same for everyone irks the shit out of me.

-that i'm pmsing. again.

okay good stuff:

-food. the best thing here has been my appetite. i can almost outeat the guys. who cares about freshman 1500000. ok food minus rice.

-relatively small school. its big enough to have all the facilities we need, but small enough that i can run down to the university centre in the middle of the night to photocopy stuff. in the freakin rain.

-good classes. ok some have been boring, and some have crazy loads of hw, ie essays due on 3rd day of schoo, but its good. generally. at least i like it.

-of course, being able to do what i want. mostly.

my fingers are kinda freezing right now. and an idiot is laughing. like shit. and poking me.

it alternated between mad mad fun and extreme boredom. but one thing for sure, i learnt ALOT. if not general knowledge, then at least the way our government thinks. doesn't paint a very pretty picture but sure as hell pragmatic. BUUUT the ministry i am in is people friendly and the place for idealists! so yay come join me! the lonely soul amoung annoyinglybright people...

i would take teaching for free over getting paid anytime. like, let me give you back your money and you give me your attention. stop playing with the games in your graphic calculators, there are no calculations in induction, stupid. the graphic calculator is the worst invention ever. plus its equally annoying seeing blank faces staring into space, which is what our class made the poor teachers go through haha.
at least if they know you're not getting paid they'll pay closer attention. i think. ok i never think much about money anyways cos i've always had more than enough. maybe in the future when i'm deadbroke i'll harp about the wonderful pay of relief teachers =)

saw chewchormeng at the SIR some time back. he was sitting like two seats away with his wife next to me so i didn't see him. and his two little girls are damn cute! oh and lampard's daughter is damn cute too.
anyways the girls were running around creating quite abit of havoc, the littlest one spouting nonsense, but quite intelligent nonsense for a little girl. she even came over to me, put her hand on my leg, and STARED. (somehow little kids like staring at me, maybe cos i stare back. heh. someone used to say i should stop my 'staring' fights with kids even if they're the only people i can win ><)

ok the point of this is that he looks damn old now.
i mean, yah he has grown old. thing is he seems to have stopped acting in drama serials so the face i remember is the longtimeago face. which means he looks damn damn old now haha.

Since its the world cup now, how can i not talk about it?

well before the world cup started, i wanted the finals to be portugal vs brazil. and though there's england, argentina, spain and germany, im still hoping for it to end up portugal/brazil! of course there's also the valiant south korea team but thats hoping against hope haha.

at first it went like this:

today's psychology session was interesting enough.
except for this girl who was in the waiting room as well. she's just plain freakyyyy, what with weird dressing, nose piercing, lip piercing, basically metal bits all over her face.
she was surprisingly polite though. when the receptionist asked her if she'd like to leave a note, she went 'yes please thankyou' haha which was so not her image. but here's the freaky part. she took the pen and paper, and started to draw very violently all over the paper. im not joking about the violent part, the pen was scratching the paper (and table) so damn loudly. ok, so her drawing's quite good. except that she was drawing what looked like fangs to me with something stuck in between. after that she just told the receptionist to pass it to someone and walked off.
i was freaked enough.

and 'visiting' ntu today made me glad for choosing ntu over nus. even though it was a two-hr mrt/bus ride for a 5minutes staring session -.- so yeah.

the people are nice. cos i didn't know how to walk there, so i asked this group of students. then they weren't sure either, so they asked other people. and in the end, four of them escorted me to the right building ^^ isn't that amazing.
on the way back somehow i started chatting with this vietnam ntu student, who was really nice and gave me lots of info about ntu even though i could tell she doesnt think its too swell a school.

and i might be schoolmates with jessie and roo! yay =) roo did you go for some CN Yang scholarship interview? it seems like a really good science-y programme. haha im excited about it. yay yay yay
